Hello, and welcome to the website for Poor Bobby's Hard Times Tavern and Supper House! Hard Times Tavern is NOT a restaurant! Rather, it is a fun, intimate, pub/tavern which is a throwback to similar places from years ago!

In creating this tavern, I wanted to offer my guests a relaxing, value driven, drinking environment with damn good, and simple, pub style food. Our menus are simple, chalkboard posted, and ever changing. After 25+ years preparing the true gourmet stuff (and arguably being about the best at doing so) I wanted to lay back, and simply prepare the foods that I would enjoy myself. Home-style cooking, big portions, fair prices. If you want the fancy suit & tie food, get dressed up and go to one of the many wonderful restaurants in Middletown. I'm not worried, you'll be coming to my place after dinner, to loosen that tie and have a real fun nightcap!

My "Supper Hour" concept once initiated, will be sort of cool too! One or maybe two days a week, and just from perhaps 6:00 - 8:00 I will be offering a special family-style dinner package. For one low price per person (with little kids being free) you can come in with friends and family to enjoy whatever menu I am offering that evening. No choices, just one family style supper offering. Served on platters, placed in the center of your table. You pass your own food around, and serve yourselves. We are not about fancy attentive service here. We ARE about good tasting food, cold drinks, and a relaxing environment! See the menu section for a sample Supper Hour menu!

Hey! I built a really cool stage for this place too! Check this website or call anytime to find out what bands or performers are rocking the tavern! We will be doing everything from single piano performances, to all-out rock the house bands! Even some laid-back open-mic stuff, and of course a little Jazz too!

The best way to understand and get into the concepts at my place would be to simply pop in for a cocktail. Look around, ask some questions, watch a little of the game.

Just please relax, and don't get all dressed up. :-)
